June 25, 2008 - We began our hike at the trailhead of the Poplar Gulch Trail,
located northwest of the town and approximately 0.2 miles up the 4-wheel drive road leading to
Tincup Pass.
There are many beautiful aspen groves in this early portion of the hike. |
A meadow, an open and grassy area, comprises of the middle area
of the trail. Looking back, I captured this shot of the mountains.
St. Elmo is located back down into the valley. |
Upward we contined. |
Getting close to the top, I included my three great hiking partners. |
At the top of the gulch. |
Lots of great mountain views all around including this huge area of snow.
Be careful ... don't go too far out on the edges. |
Looking back at the gulch we just traveled up. |
Another nice view. Looking toward the north and northeast with
Mt. Yale
(left) and the Buffalo Peaks (right) out there. |
